A02 High-volume production of individualised, graded and variant-rich laminates for combined manufacturing chains
Summary
The DediGrad subproject A02 addresses the high-volume production of individualised, graded UD laminates using laser-assisted tape placement technology. The objective is to realise highly variable laminate structures with tailored material and property distributions. To this end, the interactions between process parameters, micro- and macrostructural grading, and the resulting mechanical properties are systematically investigated. The combination of experimental studies, analytical and numerical modelling, and simulation-based production planning enables the development of scalable one-piece-flow processes. This approach aims to ensure economically viable and reproducible manufacturing of complex graded laminate structures for integrated process chains.
001 Objectives

Graded Laminate Manufacturing

  • Further development of LATP technology for highly graded laminates
  • Analysis of relationships between process, material, and macroscopic laminate properties
  • Ensuring high consolidation quality of graded laminates
  • Modelling of optical and thermal process behaviour
  • Development of production strategies for high-variant manufacturing
002 Scientific Questions

Process-Induced Grading

  • How does the LATP process influence the micro- and macrostructural grading of UD laminates?
  • To what extent can structural-mechanical properties be tailored?
  • How can a production system be designed for the optimal manufacture of highly variable graded materials?
