C07 Product lifecycle management and life cycle assessment for eco-design
Summary
The DediGrad subproject C07 develops the methodological basis for systematically considering environmental impacts, circularity, and product-related information flows for fibre-reinforced polymer structures already at the design stage. The focus lies on linking life cycle assessment, material flow analysis, circular-economy assessment, and product lifecycle management, and on deriving suitable data and evaluation structures. The objective is to create a sustainability-oriented PLM strategy that integrates, in particular, the R-strategies Reduce and Recycle into the development of graded structures. In this way, C07 provides a central contribution to the environmental assessment and sustainable design perspective of the overall consortium.
001 Objectives

Digital Eco-Design

  • Establishment of the basis for assessing environmental impacts and circularity of fibre-reinforced components
  • Implementation of a sustainability-oriented PLM strategy at the design stage
  • Development of a suitable general assessment framework
  • Derivation of specific data requirements with regard to Reduce and Recycle strategies
  • Linking of system and product models
002 Scientific Questions

Life Cycle Assessment

  • Which assessment methods are available for evaluating environmental sustainability and circularity of fibre-reinforced structures?
  • How can a suitable general assessment framework be developed and integrated into the design phase?
  • Which specific data requirements arise with regard to R-strategies, in particular Reduce and Recycle?
  • Which concepts are required in order to link system and product models?
