C04 Methodical derivation of process-structure-property relations based on hybrid data spaces
Summary
The DediGrad subproject C04 develops a methodology for deriving process–structure–property relations on the basis of hybrid data spaces in which experimental, numerical, and data-driven information are brought together. This is investigated exemplarily for the press-through process in order to link fibre orientation, defect formation, and geometric structural features systematically with process parameters. The subproject combines manufacturing studies, non-destructive testing, simulation, machine learning, and model-based digitalisation. Its objective is to provide a transferable methodology for describing and subsequently extending process–structure–property chains, thereby laying the foundation for digital design and monitoring systems.
001 Objectives

Hybrid Data Modelling

  • Development of a methodology for mapping process–structure relations across different manufacturing processes
  • Identification and modelling of process–structure relations in the press-through process
  • Establishment of digital environments for process design and static monitoring
  • Creation of the basis for a later extension towards complete process–structure–property chains
002 Scientific Questions

Process-Structure Relations

  • Which physical phenomena in the press-through process need to be modelled in order to describe fibre orientation and defects in the resulting structure?
  • How should effort be distributed sensibly between experiments and computations?
  • How can experimental and computational data be combined to model process–structure relations?
  • How can the press-through process be digitalised so as to enable a deep understanding of the process?
