TRR 402 DediGrad was represented with a dedicated scientific session at the 22nd European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM22), held in Oslo, Norway, from 21 to 25 June 2026. The conference covers a broad spectrum of current research in composite materials, their manufacturing, modelling and application.
Entitled “Intelligent Production Technologies for Load-Dedicated Graded Polymer Composite Structures”, the session brought together six scientific contributions from different subprojects within TRR 402. The presentations addressed a range of approaches for the targeted manufacturing and characterisation of load-dedicated graded composite structures.
The research covered the manufacturing of profiles with graded mechanical properties and the targeted manipulation of fibre orientation, as well as process–structure analysis of thermoplastic preforms, magnetic fibre alignment and the realisation of locally varying tape-braided structures. The programme was complemented by a concept for a digital twin for in-line monitoring of press processes involving 3D grading.
With contributions from Petar Peric, Stephan Rudolph, Evgenia Madia, Oliver Henry Schmidt, Johannes Keil and Klara Liesegang, the session brought together researchers from several subprojects. The presentations demonstrated the close integration of manufacturing technology, experimental investigation, numerical modelling and data-driven process monitoring within TRR 402.
ECCM22 also provided valuable opportunities for scientific exchange with the international composites community and for discussing current approaches to the development and manufacturing of future graded lightweight structures.
