Kick-off of the newly established TRR 402 DediGrad

Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 402 officially started on 1 April 2025

The Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 402 “DediGrad – Intelligent Production Technologies for Lightweight Polymer Structures with Load-Dedicated 3D Grading of the Reinforcement Architecture” officially started on 1 April 2025. At its first general meeting, the newly established research consortium laid the organisational foundations for its future work.

The agenda of the kick-off meeting included key organisational matters, such as the election of the managing board, the establishment of committees and the adoption of the TRR bylaws. These decisions provide the structural framework for the interdisciplinary collaboration within TRR 402 DediGrad.
Vorstand
Der Vorstand des TRR 402 DediGrad: Jonas Stiller, Prof. Steffen Ihlenfeldt, Dr. Kristina Roder, Prof. Lothar Kroll, Prof. Stefanie Elgeti und Prof. Christian Hopmann (v. l. n. r.).
The managing board was elected as follows:

  • Spokesperson and location spokesperson Chemnitz: Prof. Lothar Kroll, TU Chemnitz, Institute of Lightweight Structures

  • Deputy spokesperson and location spokesperson Aachen: Prof. Christian Hopmann, RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University

  • Location spokesperson Dresden: Prof. Steffen Ihlenfeldt, TU Dresden, Institute of Mechatronic Engineering

  • Head of working groups: Prof. Stefanie Elgeti, TU Wien, Institute of Lightweight Design and Structural Biomechanics

  • Early career researcher representative: Dr. Kristina Roder, TU Chemnitz, Institute of Lightweight Structures

Jonas Stiller, TU Chemnitz, Institute of Lightweight Structures, participates in the managing board in an advisory capacity as managing director.
Ausschuss TP-Leiter
Der Projektleitenden-Ausschuss des TRR 402 DediGrad: Jonas Stiller, Prof. Marek Behr, Prof. Steffen Ihlenfeldt, Prof. Kristin Paetzold-Byhain, Prof. Jörn Ihlemann, Prof. Niels Modler, Prof. Lothar Kroll, Prof. Christian Hopmann, Prof. Stefanie Elgeti, Prof. Thomas Lampke und Dr. Kristina Roder (v. l. n. r.).
A committee of project leaders was also elected to support the further development of the research programme. As the full group of project leaders comprises 24 participants, the committee provides a more focused format for discussion and strategic coordination. Three project leaders from each of the three applicant universities serve on the committee.

The following project leaders were elected:

  • Prof. Lothar Kroll, TU Chemnitz, Institute of Lightweight Structures

  • Prof. Christian Hopmann, RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University

  • Prof. Steffen Ihlenfeldt, TU Dresden, Institute of Mechatronic Engineering

  • Prof. Jörn Ihlemann, TU Chemnitz, Institute of Mechanics and Thermodynamics

  • Prof. Thomas Lampke, TU Chemnitz, Institute of Materials Science and Engineering

  • Prof. Niels Modler, TU Dresden, Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology

  • Prof. Kristin Paetzold-Byhain, TU Dresden, Institute of Machine Elements and Machine Design

  • Prof. Marek Behr, RWTH Aachen University, Computational Analysis of Technical Systems

  • Prof. Kathrin Greiff, RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Anthropogenic Material Cycles

Jonas Stiller also participates in this committee in an advisory capacity as managing director.

With the kick-off and the election of its central bodies, TRR 402 DediGrad has taken an important first step towards establishing its collaborative research structures and advancing its work on intelligent production technologies for graded lightweight polymer structures.
