TRR 402 DediGrad was represented with its own mini-symposium at WCCM–ECCOMAS 2026, held in Munich from 19 to 24 July 2026. With around 5,000 participants and more than 4,600 scientific presentations, the conference is among the world’s leading events in the field of computational mechanics.
The mini-symposium “MS167A: Design and Manufacturing of Functionally Graded Composites” was jointly organised by Prof. Stefanie Elgeti (TU Wien), Dr Konstantin Key (TU Wien) and Dr Matthias Klärner (Chemnitz University of Technology), with Dr. Key and Dr. Klärner chairing the session. Prof. Elgeti also chaired several further scientific sessions at WCCM–ECCOMAS 2026. In addition, Prof. Behr (RWTH Aachen University), co-head of subproject C02 within TRR 402, served as one of the Congress Chairs of the conference.
The session featured six scientific presentations, including five contributions from TRR 402 DediGrad. The presentations covered a broad range of research topics, including AI-based material modelling, simulation-driven optimisation, the prediction of local stress states, and the numerical investigation of process-induced structural effects in fibre-reinforced composites. Together, they reflected the interdisciplinary nature of the Collaborative Research Centre and its close integration of experimental research, computational methods, and data-driven approaches.
In addition to the scientific programme, the conference provided excellent opportunities for professional exchange and international networking. Discussions with researchers from around the world generated valuable new perspectives for the ongoing research within TRR 402 and further strengthened the visibility of the Collaborative Research Centre within the international scientific community.
